Marvin Luna is multi-talented in the areas of illustration and graphic design.
He has extensive experience in corporate design and loves illustration, especially in the area of sequential arts (i.e. graphic novels, picture books).
He received his first BFA in Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Miami International University of Art and Design. This supplied Marvin with the skills he needed to engage fully in diverse areas of work. He was a designer for several conventional corporate companies, as well as serving a more informal local church as staff artist.
During his studies in Miami, Marvin dedicated himself to deepening an understanding of visual storytelling, specifically in film and comic books. He collaborated with a film student, in the position of script adviser, art director, and storyboard artist in various short movie projects.
All throughout this productive season he became acquainted with the work of significant artists that would rekindle his fascination with the comic book format — work from artists such as Alex Toth, Noel Sickles, Herge (Georges Remi), Katsushika Hokusai, David Mazzucchelli, Mike Mignola, and early 19th century illustrator Arthur Rackham.
Marvin is very grateful for his vast experience in graphic design and is now very focused and passionate in growing in the area of illustration. Marvin is currently working on a graphic novel adaptation on the Old Testament account of Jonah the prophet. In order to refine his skills, Marvin is pursuing a second BFA in Illustration at Kendall College of Art and Design, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
